  • Temporal Forces Prereleases

    Temporal Forces Prereleases

We will be holding THREE prerelease events for the upcoming Temporal Forces set! These events will be Wednesday March 13, Thursday March 14, and Friday March 15!

Check-in each day will begin at 3:30pm, with deck-building starting no later than 4:00pm, and the tournament portion beginning by 4:30pm. The cost for each event is $30 per person.

If you’ve never attended a Pokémon prerelease event, here’s how it works:

At the beginning of the event, each player will receive 1 Build & Battle Box, which will include:

    • A 40-card ready-to-play deck
    • 1 of 4 alternate-art promo cards
    • 4 Temporal Forces booster packs
    • 1 deck-building tip sheet

Players will then be given about 20-30 minutes to open their boxes and packs, and build a 40-card deck with the contents. (No trading with other players yet!) Players will be paired for a short, 3-round tournament of single-match games played with 4 prize cards rather than the usual 6. At the end, all players will receive 3 additional Temporal Forces booster packs!

Registration is $30 per person, and you can register in-store at Box Buster Sports Cards in Montrose. Space is limited, so we highly encourage registering beforehand, though you may register on-site the day of the event if there are any spots remaining.

IMPORTANT: Kits MUST be picked up in-store during the event! Staying for the tournament is optional (but encouraged!). If you opt to not stay for the tournament, you will only receive a Build & Battle Box and no additional booster packs! Any Build & Battle Boxes and booster packs that are remaining after the event will be available for early purchase on Monday, March 18th!

  • What’s Ahead for 2024

    What’s Ahead for 2024

Happy New Year! I want to start off by giving a tremendous THANK YOU to everyone that has made 2023 the most successful year we’ve ever had! Thanks to you, we’ve been able to bring Premier events to Montrose, giving you all the chance to earn Championship Points towards a shot at the World Championship!

In 2023, we had players from across the Western Slope, from Montrose to Grand Junction to Telluride, play in…

    5 prerelease events!

    8 League Challenges!

    2 League Cups!

It’s been so awesome seeing the Pokémon community grow on the Western Slope, and I’m looking forward to even more in the coming year!

The schedule for the beginning of 2024 can be seen on the Upcoming Events page. Our regular bi-weekly league sessions will resume Friday, January 12th from 4-6pm. We will also continue holding monthly League Challenge tournaments, and quarterly League Cups.

Earn Exclusive Prize Packs at League!

With the new year, we’ll be making some changes to our Achievement Board system that allows players to earn exclusive Play! Pokémon Prize Packs.

To earn points on the board, players must battle with other trainers at league, whether in the TCG, video games, or Pokémon GO. Win or lose, both players will receive a point on the board, which is tracked by the position of the Poké Ball magnet next to your name. One point per unique opponent, per week! When you’ve earned 2 points, you’ll receive a sticker sheet, and once you’ve earned 8 points, you’ll receive a Prize Pack**!

Players will also receive an activity card that will give you a chance to earn a second prize pack! Each card includes activities for the TCG, video games, and Pokémon GO. You can complete activities in any order, and for any of the games. Once you’ve completed 8 activities, you’ll receive a Prize Pack!

**While supplies last. Due to limited supplies, there will be a limit of 2 prize packs per person, per month at league sessions. However, you can have other chances to earn prize packs by playing in our League Challenges and Cups.

    Gym Leader Challenge

This year I’ll continue to accept Gym Leader Challenges, with the prize of an exclusive Professor’s Research card featuring Pokémon GO’s Professor Willow** if you defeat me!

The Gym Leader Challenge is a fun and challenging TCG format with strategies all its own! GLC decks have specific rules to follow when being built, such as no Pokémon with a rule box (such as Pokémon ex or Radiant Pokémon), all Pokémon must be the same energy type, and decks can only have a single copy of each card (except for basic Energy).

You can learn more about the format in the TCG Alternative Play Handbook.

**While supplies last. Again, due to limited supplies, there will be a limit of 1 Professor’s Research card per person to ensure as many players as possible get the chance to earn one.

Thank you all again so much, and I look forward to an exciting new year of more Pokémon fun! If you have any questions, or want to stay connected with the community between events, I highly encourage you to join in our Discord server here.
