The Play! Pokémon Championship Series

Play to be the best!

Playing for casual fun at your local Pokémon league is great, but what if you want to see if you have what it takes to be the very best? What does it take to become a champion… even a World Champion?

Through the Play! Pokémon program, you can play in tournaments all over the world, including right here at home in game stores across the Western Slope! Visit our Upcoming Events page to learn more about upcoming tournaments.

What is the Pokémon Championship Series?

Compete against other Pokémon TCG, Video Game, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE! On the Western Slope, there are currently TCG and Video Game tournaments held throughout the year. Championship Series tournaments award Championship Points to winners. Win enough Championship Points in the season to earn an invitation to the World Championship! Here’s how the Championship series works.

Pokémon TCG League Challenge tournaments are entry-level events that award a small amount of Championship Points. Test your skills here first to ease yourself into competitive play. These are typically held monthly at local game stores.

League Cups the next step up from League Challenges. They award more Championship Points, which means they’re likely to have more players participating. These are held once per quarter at local game stores.

Regional Championships events take place all around the world. Featuring hundreds, if not thousands of players, Regionals have much higher Championship Point awards than local tournaments, along with much more prize support!

The International Championships are the largest Pokémon tournaments in the world and are second only to the World Championship itself! These events are attended by some of the best players in the world, and have the highest payouts of Championship Points, and much larger prize pools.
